Join us for AVOT’s Advanced Session, created specifically for experienced veterinary ophthalmology technicians seeking higher-level education. This session will feature in-depth lectures and advanced concepts designed to challenge and inspire seasoned professionals. Registration includes a plated breakfast and lunch with our ophthalmology diplomates, offering a great opportunity for casual conversation and connection.

Ocular Oncology
This 1 hour lecture will highlight ophthalmic oncologic conditions. It will identify conditions based on tumor type and location, diagnostics, and treatment options, as well as breed-predispositions and other key factors in helping identify and treat these conditions.
Sami Pederson
DVM, MS, DACVO
Sami Pederson DVM, MS, DACVO is a Board-certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist at WestVet in Boise, Idaho.
Dr. Pederson attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID for undergrad and Oregon State University for veterinary school. She completed a rotating internship at WestVet, followed by an ophthalmology internship at BluePearl in Tampa, FL. She then completed another ophthalmology internship at Colorado State University and remained for her Ophthalmology Residency and Master of Science degree.
Dr. Pederson has worked on several projects and publications, including various articles on advanced imaging of the eye and the ocular effects of radiation in wild animals from Fukushima, Japan. She enjoys the challenges of ophthalmic surgery and seeing her patients happy and comfortable at their follow-up appointments.
When not helping patients directly, Dr. Pederson also trains residents, mentors interns, and runs WestVet's externship program for veterinary students. She has spoken at AVOT conferences several times, and is excited to be back and helping provide further education about veterinary ophthalmology!
